Introduction
- Tizen is an open and flexible operating system.
- Tizen offers the power of native application development with the flexibility of unparalleled HTML5 support.
- The Tizen project resides within the Linux Foundation and is governed by a Technical Steering Group.
- Tizen uses HTML5 as the main focus for application development.
- The Tizen platform supports web applications (HTML, JavaScript, CSS) and provides a rich set of services that include the application framework, along with content, location, messaging, multimedia, network social and system services.
- The Tizen platform is based on the open source Linux operating system, which in the last few years has become the operating system of choice for the majority of smartphones.
- Samsung puts Tizen operating system to work.
Launches
- October 2013, On The first week Samsung's NX300M smart camera became the first consumer product based on Tizen.
- June 2013,The first Tizen tablet was announced by Systena.
- April 2014,The Samsung Gear 2 smartwatch uses Tizen was released .
- January 2015,Samsung released the Tizen-based Samsung Z1 to the Indian market.
Features
- Comes with robust development tools.
- The default Tizen development environment is based on the widely used Eclipse platform, and developers can easily configure other environments if they choose.
- HTML5 code—allows Tizen to share a common codebase with other mobile platforms.
- The Tizen development kit comes with a GUI builder tool which allows developers to quickly lay out their applications using simple drag-and-drop.
- Another benefit of Tizen’s focus on standard technologies is that it enables extensive code reuse.
- Tizen phone could display driving information gained from a vehicle that is also running Tizen.
- TIZEN phones supports IOS, Android applications.
- Its main feature is its compatibility with multiple mobile platforms; which means that applications made with the Tizen OS is still compatible and may be launched in other OS like the IOS and Android, with a little code change.

- Association.
- April 30, 2012, Tizen released version 1.0, code-named Larkspur.
- September 25, 2012, Tizen released version 2.0 alpha, code-named Magnolia.
- April 2013 Samsung announced Tizen Port-a-thon. This campaign supports Bada developers' early entry into the Tizen market by providing technical support and incentives.
- May 17, 2013, Tizen released version 2.1, code-named Nectarine.
- July 22, 2013, Tizen released version 2.2.
- November 9, 2013, Tizen released version 2.2.1.
- November 8, 2014, Tizen released version 2.3.
